Chromium (VI) is a confirmed carcinogen in humans. When heated sufficiently, it will oxidize in the presence of air or oxygen, though it is otherwise fairly stable. The other fluoride of tin is SnF 4, which was previously called stannic fluoride but is now named tin(IV) fluoride. Chromium(III) sulfide appears as a brownish black powder that melts at 1350 C. The three waters added back in balance the change from ammonia to ammonium as well as the three hydroxides on the chromium(III) hydroxide. This represents the formula SnF 2, which is more properly named tin(II) fluoride. Chromium Sulfide is a moderately water and acid soluble Chromium source for uses. Out-of-date nomenclature used the suffixes – ic and – ous to designate metals with higher and lower charges, respectively: Iron(III) chloride, FeCl 3, was previously called ferric chloride, and iron(II) chloride, FeCl 2, was known as ferrous chloride.
